About Us: The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD, the recognized birthplace of American railroading, is a landmark destination. As one of the world’s most significant railroad museums, we offer engaging experiences that connect visitors to the rich story of America through the lens of the railroad.
We’re in a dynamic phase of growth, striving to be Fun, Interactive, Relevant, and Experiential (F.I.R.E.). Exciting times are ahead as we plan national and local celebrations for the American railroads’ 200th anniversary in 2027. We’re also undertaking a major campus renovation, developing an innovative workforce development program utilizing our 40-acre campus as a learning space, and expanding our educational initiatives, particularly for children with special needs.

Responsibilities
- Prepare design layouts for events and program marketing materials, branded collateral, signage, and exhibits as needed.
- Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities (e.g. social media, direct mail, and web).
- Update existing marketing collateral and signage as needed.
- Assist with developing and executing a brand guide.
- Work with the marketing team in all stages of marketing campaigns.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of design experience
- College degree in graphic design preferred or an equivalent of education plus experience
- Excellent visual eye for design and composition
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (emphasis on Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Familiarity with marketing computer software and online applications (e.g. WordPress, Canva)
- Familiarity with photography documentation, videography a plus
- Solid understanding of different marketing techniques
Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with experience, but the expected salary (W2) for this position is $25,000 annually for 20 hours a week of work.
While this is a remote role, candidates must reside in the Greater DC-Baltimore DMV, as they may need to come on site occasionally.
