About Us: The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD, the recognized birthplace of American railroading, is a landmark destination. As one of the world’s most significant railroad museums, we offer engaging experiences that connect visitors to the rich story of America through the lens of the railroad. 

We’re in a dynamic phase of growth, striving to be Fun, Interactive, Relevant, and Experiential (F.I.R.E.). Exciting times are ahead as we plan national and local celebrations for the American railroads’ 200th anniversary in 2027. We’re also undertaking a major campus renovation, developing an innovative workforce development program utilizing our 40-acre campus as a learning space, and expanding our educational initiatives, particularly for children with special needs. 

Join Our Team as a Marketing Content Manager! 

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Marketing Content Manager to join our team. In this role, you’ll manage our digital marketing efforts and enhance our online presence across all media channels. We seek a creative, data-driven, and detail-oriented professional who wants to contribute to a vibrant organization. As a content marketing specialist, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the Museum’s voice, expanding our online reach, and attracting a diverse audience. 

Responsibilities: 

Social Media Management:  

  • Create and manage the B&O Railroad Museum’s presence on various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn.  
  • Develop and execute social media content strategies to engage and grow our online community including social media swaps with partners, influencer marketing, etc.  
  • Post regularly with engaging content, event promotions, historical facts, and updates to keep our audience informed and entertained. 

Content Creation: 

  • Write compelling copy for marketing materials, including event flyers, brochures, blogs, website content, email campaigns, and fundraising appeals. 
  • Create visually appealing and informative content to support online marketing efforts, including graphics, videos, and infographics. 
  • Take photos at events as necessary.  
  • Supervise a photography and videography intern to ensure successful completion of content needs.  

Email Marketing: 

  • Develop and execute email marketing campaigns. 
  • Monitor email performance metrics and make data-driven adjustments to improve open rates, click-through rates, and conversions. 

Website Management: 

  • Help maintain and update the museum’s website with fresh content, event listings, and news ensuring all information is accurate for guests.  

Analytics and Reporting:  

  • Monitor the performance of digital marketing initiatives and generate reports to measure the effectiveness of campaigns.  
  • Use data insights to refine strategies and increase engagement. 

Collaborative Teamwork: 

  • Collaborate with colleagues from different departments to ensure consistent messaging and cross-promotion of events, development campaigns, and exhibitions.  
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging marketing technologies. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, digital marketing, communications, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in managing social media accounts and digital marketing campaigns. 
  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to create engaging, informative, and error-free copy. Accuracy and strong proofreading skills are essential to success in this role.  
  • Highly organized and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects. 
  • Proficiency in graphic design and video editing tools is a plus.  

Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with experience, but the expected range for this position is $45,000-55,000.
