The B&O Railroad Museum and Paul’s Place are joining forces to launch “Groundwork Kitchen at the B&O” starting April 25th.

BALTIMORE, MD – April 24, 2023 – The B&O Railroad Museum and Paul’s Place are joining forces to launch “Groundwork Kitchen at the B&O” starting April 25th. Groundwork at the B&O will be open seven days a week, 10 AM – 4 PM, offering healthy menu options for children and adults alike.

“We are so excited to provide a space for Paul’s Place to open a second café, Groundwork at the B&O, offering food with a purpose,” says Kris Hoellen, Executive Director of the B&O Railroad Museum. “Our guests will have the opportunity to support the culinary workforce program which offers amazing food while visiting the Museum – a win-win for everyone!”

“We’re thrilled to partner with the B&O Railroad Museum on this extension of our mission at Groundwork Kitchen,” adds Tim Regan, Executive Director of Paul’s Place. “Both of our organizations’ central focus is on hospitality and providing a meaningful experience for our guests. We’re excited for the potential of this partnership for Pigtown and Baltimore.”

Groundwork Kitchen is a full-service restaurant and catering company located at 925 Washington Blvd that offers free culinary training for individuals interested in a career in hospitality. Their free 12-week workforce development program was created in 2021 in an effort to transform lives, disrupt poverty, and offer life skills and career training to nourish the community through food.

Groundwork Kitchen will offer a variety of family-friendly menu items, ranging from American to Mexican to Asian cuisine and more. The new satellite café will be located where the previous B&O Railroad Museum café was located, in the backyard of the Museum. It will operate daily from 10 AM – 4 PM.

Groundwork Kitchen is an extension of Paul’s Place, a nonprofit organization, in Southwest Baltimore – nested in the neighborhood of Pigtown, less than half a mile from the B&O Railroad Museum.

The Museum is also host to the Restore Baltimore workforce development program, a program offered jointly by the Community College of Baltimore County and the B&O Railroad Museum.

I love that the museum is what remains of the old train yard and the number and variety of train cars is remarkable.
