B&O Railroad Museum Hosting Free Community Celebration & Concert With Baltimore Symphony Orchestra Partner Wordsmith

BALTIMORE, MD – July 6, 2023 – The B&O Railroad Museum and Wordsmith, an artistic partner with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, are set to host a free community celebration and concert on July 14 at the Museum. 

The concert comes as the conclusion of a year’s worth of programming the B&O Railroad Museum has hosted related to its latest exhibit, The Underground Railroad: Freedom Seekers on the B&O Railroad, which opened in September of 2022.  

Free admission into the Museum will begin at 4 PM, where guests will have the opportunity to view the Underground Railroad: Freedom Seekers on the B&O Railroad exhibit and all the Museum has to offer. Crafts and activities will be available for kids to join and partake in and Baltimore-based painter Phil The Artist will be on-site doing a live painting. 

Ekiben and The Backyard will have food and drinks available for purchase. Nika’s Cupcake Bar will be selling cupcakes from 4 – 8 PM. Kona Ice of Catonsville will be on-site from 6 – 8 PM.

Wordsmith + Live Band will begin their performance at 7 PM, taking listeners on a journey of emotion, inspiration, and lyrical brilliance as they take the stage to perform a medley of songs, covering themes of Freedom and Unity. At the conclusion of the performance, Wordsmith will hold a cheers and Q&A session with the audience.

The roundhouse was my favorite part, because it gives a true feel for what goes on in a roundhouse—the cars are stationary, but seeing the actual tracks is eye-opening.
