Spend Spring Break at the B&O Railroad Museum with a fun-filled week of hands-on workshops, performances, tours, and scavenger hunts for kids of all ages

BALTIMORE, MD – March 31, 2023 – Spend Spring Break at the B&O Railroad Museum next week from Monday, April 3 – Friday, April 7 with a fun-filled week of hands-on workshops, performances, tours, and scavenger hunts for kids of all ages.

On Tuesday, April 4, Natasha Mirny, founder of the Happy Theater, is bringing her Shadow Theater Show, Alphabetisimo: Where Do Words and Letters Go, After We Say Them, Do You Know? to the Museum. The show will feature railroad-themed puppet letters. Afterwards, kids will be able to create their own shadow puppets during a workshop. On Thursday, April 6, kids will be able to discover the stories of Henry “Box” Brown and William and Ellen Craft and their journeys to freedom using the routes and resources of the Underground Railroad through the Museum’s latest exhibit, The Underground Railroad: Freedom Seekers on the B&O Railroad. On Friday, April 7, there will be a Derby Car Workshop sponsored by Stanley Black & Decker in which kids can create their own derby cars using wooden materials and put them to the test along a track. Additionally, the Museum’s Train Ride Season begins this Saturday, April 1, in which visitors can take a ride on the Mile One Express along the nation’s first mile of commercial railroad. Train rides are available the week of April 1st, every day except Tuesday, April 4th. Train rides are scheduled for 11:30 AM with an additional 1 PM train ride on Saturdays and Sundays through May. Tickets can be purchased on-site at the Museum.

The B&O’s Spring Break Week will conclude with a sensory-friendly Easter Egg Hunt in the B&O’s historic roundhouse with the Easter Bunny on Friday, April 7 at 9 AM. This egg hunt will be modified to create a more accessible experience for neurodivergent visitors.

There will also be another Easter Egg Hunt for the general public on Saturday, April 8 at 9 AM. Professional photos with the Easter Bunny will be available both days from 10 AM – 3 PM. For more information on Easter Weekend at the B&O, visit https://www.borail.org/easter/.
